An individual who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated Ruben proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She stated the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
